Our Story
A Dating Website. Seven Kids. One Big Plot Twist.
I’m Kayla. He’s Derek. And yes, this love story starts on a dating website during the COVID days. Apparently, even in a global pandemic, we had time for a little plot twist.
We found each other when we were both healing from some hard chapters. The timing wasn’t quite ours yet, but the friendship was. Life took us in different directions, and somehow, we stayed connected.
Then October 2025 brought us back together, and we decided we’d spent enough time waiting.
Four + Three = Our Favorite Kind of Chaos.
Derek brought four kids. I brought three. We brought our families together, made the space we had work, and started building a life with our best friend.
Our hearts had plenty of room. Our house had some concerns.
Our Usual Whereabouts
Probably at a Practice. Definitely on the Sidelines.
These days, there’s usually a practice, a game, or a kid who needs to be somewhere approximately ten minutes ago. We love playing sports ourselves, cheering on our kids, and volunteering our time to help at practices whenever we can.
When We Sneak Away
A Little Magic. A Serious Roller-Coaster Habit.
We’re also Disney lovers with a serious roller-coaster habit. Give us a little magic, a Universal trip, and a ride that makes us question our decisions, and we’re happy.
A Little Shop. A Big Family Dream.
Everything Mom & Co is another adventure we’re building together. A little creativity, a lot of personality, and a big dream of a home with more room for our crew.
